We’ll start by saying that this is a rather big office chair. While it weighs only 42 lbs, it doesn’t give off that kind of impression. Even though Serta isn’t known for the sturdiness of their chairs, this one doesn’t have that feeling to it. Since it’s a big office chair, it has to be sturdy and well-made so it can suit bigger and taller people without a problem, and this one does just that. And it isn’t good for taller and bigger people, it’s great for shorter people also.

The main feature of this chair is undoubtfully the AIR lumbar system. And wow, it definitely exceeded our expectations. The support and comfort it gives make it a great chair for studying or working long hours. It is surely up there with the most comfortable office chairs that Serta makes.

The high-back design and the headrest also contribute to the comfort that this Serta chair has. While the headrest isn’t adjustable, it should fit most people just fine.

The seat is, in our opinion, very well padded, just like we expected from a big chair. It’s filled with foam and is quite soft. The armrests are also padded but they don’t have adjustment options, which is one of the several downsides that this chair has. But, the Serta Smart Layers Arlington AirManager Chair has a tilt feature that you can easily adjust and also has the height adjustment feature. Anyway, comfort-wise, this chair is astounding, especially when you remember how affordable it actually is.

The wheelbase is made from plastic, which we were not too excited to see, but for this price, it’s hard to expect a metal wheelbase. The wheels are also made from plastic. Nonetheless, the plastic wheelbase still gives stability to this chair but doesn’t give much to the weight capacity limit, as that is only 250 lbs. For a big chair like this, you expect to see a bit more. So, a couple of plastic parts are more than we wished for, but, overall, the build quality is great.

Leather in use is bonded leather, which is obviously not as great as real leather but it does have some positive sides to it. First and foremost, it’s very easy to clean, which is a huge time saver, and as opposed to real leather, it doesn’t need much care and maintenance. The leather used to cover the lumbar support has tiny holes in it, which add to the overall breathability of the chair.

The designers at Serta did a great job with this chair. Its design makes it easy to fit in most home offices or college dorms, and its elegant lines will make the place it’s in even better looking. The only downside that we could think of is that it only comes in one colorway, black, as we think the brown leather would’ve suit this chair amazingly.

The combination of black bonded leather and the silver armrests and wheelbase truly go great together. The design and size of this chair will make you feel more confident, at that is the ultimate compliment that a chair can get.

The assembly process is a breeze. It’s designed that way that only one person can put it together, and it shouldn’t take more than 20-30 mins, which, for a chair this size, is an amazing accomplishment. The parts are all there, the instruction manual is crystal clear, and, with a helping hand, the process will take even less time.

When looking for a new chair, at this price range, very few can beat this one from Serta. They truly outdid themselves with this one, and, while it does have a couple of downsides, it is a very comfortable chair that will be a great option even for taller people who are having a hard time finding the right office chair.

The thick cushion and great lumbar support will provide you with comfort for long working hours, and you couldn’t ask for much more from an affordable office chair.
