Overview
In the mid-range office chair world, Hon has proven to be a brand that delivers on its promises, as we’ve seen with the popular Ignition 2.0.
The Hon Volt is designed to make working hours more comfortable and improve your sitting posture with a couple of helpful features.
Features & Construction
For starters, this is a very compact chair that is designed to fit in smaller places, and we love the fact that it’s so lightweight and portable, so it can easily be moved around.
That doesn’t take away from its durability, as the Hon Volt boasts a pretty sturdy 5-star base, as well as higher quality plastic materials throughout the chair, making it very durable. Compared to most chairs in its class, it feels much better put together.
Now let’s go over some of its most important features. The chair comes with a pneumatic lift system, as well as tilting features like tilt tension and tilt lock. It also has a center-tilt feature that allows you to tilt backward, moving the seat as well as the back at the same time.
Since there are different versions of the Hon Volt task chair, there can be confusion on which ones have the center tilt and which ones have the synchro tilt feature. If you want Volt chairs with center-tilt, go for H5701 and H5711 (this one has a mesh back), and if you want synchro-tilt, go for H5703 or H5713.
Assembling an office chair can be a bit intimidating, but the Hon Volt assembly was a breeze. The instructions are easily followed, and you also get all the tools needed for assembly.
Comfort
Armless office chairs are not known for being extremely comfortable for long working hours. As they are smaller than regular office chairs, taller people may find them difficult to sit on.
But, the Hon Volt is a chair that is much better for tall people, especially against the likes of the KOLLIEE Armless Office Chair and the much less expensive BestOffice Armless Office Chair.
In addition to its wide seat, the chair offers a substantial layer of padding. While this chair certainly isn’t perfect for long hours, it does a much better job than most.
Support
While the back of the chair doesn’t have a particularly special structure, it does have a slight curve and good padding that offers pretty good back support, mainly in the lower back area. It is not anything extraordinary, but it does a fairly good job.
Conclusion
When looking for an armless office chair, the Hon Volt should certainly be at the top of your wish list. While it isn’t a faultless chair by any means, in almost every deciding factor it does a better-than-average job. Plus, the fact that it’s fairly affordable should make it even more appealing.
