How to Clean a Desk Mat – Step-by-step Guide
Cleaning a desk mat regularly is important in order to maintain a good appearance and keep your desk tidy and clean.
Let’s see how you can clean your desk mat in 5 simple steps.
Gather supplies
Before you can start cleaning the mat, several supplies are needed:
- A vacuum cleaner
- A soft brush
- A cleaning solution or a soap
- An microfiber cleaning cloth
Vacuum the mat
Use the vacuum cleaner to remove dirt from the surface of the mat. Don’t forget to clean the edges, as a lot of dirt can accumulate there.
Brush the mat
With the soft-bristled brush to scrub the surface in circles. This will help remove any dirt or debris that the vacuum cleaner may have missed.
Apply the cleaning solution
Mix a small amount of cleaning solution, or soap (whichever you prefer) with water, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Dampen the clean cloth with the solution and wipe thoroughly the surface of the mat. Avoid using too much liquid, as this can cause the mat to become too wet and potentially damage the material.
Rinse the mat
Use a clean, damp cloth to rinse the surface of the mat, removing any residue from the cleaning solution.
Dry the mat
It’s important to let the mat dry out completely before using it again. Do not use a hair dryer or other heat source to speed up the drying process, as this can damage the material.
Important note: Do not use liquid cleaning solutions on RGB desk mats as they can damage them seriously.
