Philips Hue Light Strips are an easy-to-install smart lighting solution that can be controlled using your smartphone or tablet.

This light strip allows you to add some ambient lighting to an area of your choice and make the atmosphere in your room more pleasant and relaxing.

Let’s see how can you set them up and enjoy a more relaxing atmosphere in no time.

Step 1 – Measure the Area

The very first step is to measure the area you want to place your light strips on. Whether you want to place them behind your TV or behind your desk, getting the correct measurements is vital.

Grab a measuring tape or simply use a Measure app on your iPhone and measure the total length that you want your strip to be. Now check if your light strips are that length.

Step 2 – Cutting the Strips

If they are lengthier than your measurement, cut them so they match your measurements. Light strips have market lines on them that indicate that they can be cut there.

Step 3 – Placing the Light Strips

Like most LED strips, the Philips Hue Light Strips have an adhesive back that allows you to place them on a surface. Make sure that the surface you wish to place them on is flat and smooth so that they don’t detach over time.

Rougher surfaces can present difficulty when attaching the strips, so avoid those surfaces. You should also make sure that the power outlet is fairly close to the surface you are going to place the strips.

Setting up Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip

The Philips Hue Play Lightstrip is designed to be placed behind your TV so that it offers a more immersive experience when playing video games or watching movies.

These come in options for 55, 65, and 75-inch TVs, so whichever size TV you have, they will fit perfectly and no measuring or cutting will be necessary.

But, in order for the Hue Play Lightstrip to work, you will need to have the Hue Bridge and the Sync Box, and both are sold separately.

What makes these light strips special is that they react to whatever is happening on the screen, so you get an even better experience than you would with regular lightstrips.

So, to set them up, you need to connect the Hue Bridge to your router, and the HDMI Sync Box to your TV. Place the mounts from the box around your TV and push the light strip gently into them.

Then, plug the lightstrip into the control box and connect the lightstrip to the Hue app so you can control it.
