HON Ignition 2.0 Review - An Affordable Mesh-Back Ergonomic Chair

Ignition 2.0 is HON’s most popular and best office chair. Packed with a ton of features and a modern design, the Ignition 2.0 is a serious competitor in the mid-range office chair environment.

Some chairs can’t fit small or big body types, but that is not the case with the updated Ignition. It’s carefully designed and engineered to fit most body types, so if you worry that you won’t fit in the new Ignition 2.0, don’t.

However, comfort levels for long hours are not the best in this category, and there are plenty of other options you can explore. But, with this affordable price tag, we couldn’t have asked for much more, as the chairs that offer long-hour comfort usually tend to have a much higher price tag.

The Ignition 2.0 is designed for sitting on it for longer periods in mind so you can expect a few ergonomic features that will make your time spent on it more comfortable and pleasant. That starts at the seat padding; the HON Ignition 2.0 has a double layer padding to avoid losing seat padding after some time, and it also makes it more comfortable.

The back of the Ignition 2.0 is made from quality mesh that allows for more airflow compared to the padded ones, hence making you cooler and sweating less, especially when hot summer days come and you spend your whole working day on a chair. The mesh on this chair is actually more durable and comfortable than the previous model. Mesh is also important for your comfort, as it molds to your back and creates an optimal shape for you.

When we are speaking of the chair’s back, we can find the Adjustable Lumbar Support there, which comes at an added price, and though it’s not the best in the world, we feel like it’s worth it. It will help you in keeping a proper back posture even after a long time spent on this chair. That is seriously important for your health, as all of us start crawling forward when sitting on a chair for some time, and with this one, you will correct that.

If you opt for a model that has the Advanced Synchro-Tilt Option, you can then handle how much the chair will tilt backward. Other than that, the HON Ignition 2.0 truly gives you a lot of adjustment options with features like the upright tilt, armrest adjustments, quick-adjust back adjustment, and back height adjustment.

The Upright Tilt gives you an option when you find your right position, to lock it. The adjustable arms are a nice feature as they allow you to move them forward/back and up/down so you shouldn’t have a problem when you want to put it under a desk, fearing that the arms will hit it. Unsurprisingly, you can also set your desired height with the pneumatic seat height adjustment.

So, you can see that this mid-back office chair has a lot of adjustments and ergonomic features that will help you find your preferred seating position, so you can feel comfortable on it for some time, but it’s not the best option out there if you are looking for a chair that will be comfortable for more than eight or more hours.

The base of this chair is a 5-star base that gives a quite sturdy impression that will not crumble anytime soon. Wheels on the bottom are pretty standard but still, they make movement smooth. However, you may want to put some other ones to protect your hard floor if you plan to use your chair on the hard floor.

This office chair is one of HON’s best chairs, quite possibly the best one, so the construction quality is quite good with it being made from good quality materials that will make this chair last a long time. Of course, you shouldn’t expect some crazy high-end material and build quality you can see on much more expensive chairs, but it’s still pretty good for this price.

Mesh back is smooth and is of better quality than on the original Ignition. There is an option with a ReActiv back if you are not a fan of mesh backs. The ReActiv back provides the user with a firmer fit, back support, and airflow.

The only feature that is missing is the headrest, which, for some people may represent a problem, but for us, it didn’t.

We must admit that we are huge fans of the design of Ignition 2.0. It will fit excellent in almost any office you put it, especially if you have a minimalist or industrial-styled office and a similarly-looking desk setup. The sleek design with the all-black colorway will make you feel more sophisticated the moment you sit on this chair.

If you have an extra amount that you are willing to spend, you can get this chair pre-assembled, but if you have some time to spare you can do it on your own, without having an additional expense.

It is genuinely easy to assemble this chair, even though there are a couple of confusing instructions. So, our suggestion is to do it yourself and save the amount that you could spend for chair assembly for something else.

If you need a studying chair or any chair that you need to spend a lot of hours on, the HON Ignition 2.0 is for you. It may have a higher price for some, especially with the additional lumbar support, but we feel it’s a good addition.

If you are looking for an ergonomic office chair that will make you feel comfortable and have more pleasure in your work, we recommend this one. Keep in mind that this isn’t a high-end chair, but rather a budget to mid-range one, that delivers on its promises with a potential to do even more.
