The new Ignition 2.0 is a mid-back office chair made by a very famous brand in the office chair scene, HON. They have been making office furniture for over 7 decades and their furniture is made in the USA, so you know you are going to get a good chair. But, the question is, how good? Can the Ignition 2.0 be a better and more comfortable chair than the others in this category? Is it worth the price? It is ergonomic enough so you can sit on it for a longer period?
We asked ourselves these questions, so we decided to get the answers. If you are curious to find out, let’s hop into the review.
Features and construction
The Ignition 2.0 is designed for sitting on it for longer periods in mind so you can expect a few ergonomic features that will make your time spent on it more comfortable and pleasant. That starts at the seat padding; the HON Ignition 2.0 has a double layer padding to avoid losing seat padding after some time, and it also makes it more comfortable.
The back of the Ignition 2.0 is made from quality mesh that allows for more airflow, hence making you cooler and sweating less, especially when hot summer days come and you spend your whole working day on a chair. The mesh on this chair is actually more durable and comfortable than the previous model. Mesh is also important for your comfort, as it molds to your back and creates an optimal shape for you.
HON Ignition 2.0
It’s very hard not to recommend the Ignition 2.0 by HON to everybody who is searching for a comfortable office chair at a “normal” price range, that will make your studying or working hours more enjoyable.
When we are speaking of the chair’s back, we can find the Adjustable Lumbar Support there, which comes at an added price, and though it’s not the best in the world, we feel like it’s worth it. It will help you in keeping a proper back posture even after a long time spent on this chair. That is seriously important for your health, as all of us start crawling forward when sitting on a chair for some time, and with this one, you will correct that.
If you opt for a model that has the advanced synchro-tilt option, you can then handle how much the chair will tilt backward. Other than that, the HON Ignition 2.0 truly gives you a lot of adjustment options with features like the upright tilt, armrest adjustments, quick-adjust back adjustment, and back height adjustment.
The upright tilt gives you an option when you find your right position, to lock it. The adjustable arms are a nice feature as they allow you to move them forward/back and up/down so you shouldn’t have a problem when you want to put it under a desk, fearing that the arms will hit it. Unsurprisingly, you can also set your desired height with the pneumatic seat height adjustment.
So, you can see that HON Ignition 2.0 has a lot of adjustments and ergonomic features that will help you find your preferred seating position, so you can feel comfortable on it even after 8 hours spent on it.
The base of this chair is a 5-star base that gives a quite sturdy impression that will not crumble anytime soon. Wheels on the bottom are pretty standard but still, they make movement smooth. However, you may want to put some other ones to protect your hard floor if you plan to use your chair on the hard floor.
The Ignition 2.0 is one of HON’s best chairs, so the construction quality is very good, and the chair is made from rather good quality materials that will make this chair last a long time. Of course, you shouldn’t expect some crazy high-end material and build quality you can see on much more expensive chairs, but it’s still pretty good.
The only feature that is missing is the headrest, which, for some people may represent a problem, but for us, it didn’t.
Design and looks
We must admit that we are huge fans of the design of Ignition 2.0. It will fit excellent in almost any office you put it, especially if you have a minimalist or industrial-styled office and desk setup.
The sleek design with the all-black colorway will make you feel more sophisticated the moment you sit on this chair.
If you have an extra amount that you are willing to spend, you can get this chair pre-assembled, but if you have some time to spare you can do it on your own, without having an additional expense.
It is genuinely easy to assemble this chair, even though there are a couple of confusing instructions. So, our suggestion is to do it yourself and save the amount that you could spend for chair assembly for something else.
- Great looking
- A lot of adjustability options
- Easy assemble process
- Adjustable lumbar comes at an additional cost
- Casters are not durable as we expected
If you need a studying chair or any chair that you need to spend a lot of hours on, the HON Ignition 2.0 is for you. It may have a higher price for some, especially with the additional lumbar support, but we feel it’s a good addition.
If you are looking for an ergonomic office chair that will make you feel comfortable and have more pleasure in your work, we recommend this one. Keep in mind that this isn’t a high-end chair, but rather a budget to mid-range one, that delivers on its promises with a potential to do even more.
