While you can’t expect a ton of features from a scanner that is this small, the Brother DS-640 has a couple that will make your work easier. One of the more important ones is the automatic color detection/adjustment feature which is especially helpful when you are scanning several different types of documents at once.

The scanner also comes with great built-in OCR and document management software that allows you to make edits to your files. What this scanner lacks are the automatic document feeder and duplex scanning. So, you will have to manually feed the two-sided documents, which will be more time-consuming.

Some other compact scanners like the Epson WorkForce ES-50 have an ADF and a slightly more expensive Brother DS-740D has a duplex scanning option.

When you look at most compact scanners, you can see that many lack the Wi-Fi connectivity option, except the likes of the Epson Workforce ES-60W Doxie Go SE. This scanner also lacks the Wi-Fi connectivity option, but the great thing is that it supports USB 3.0, as opposed to many others that only support 2.0.

In terms of OS compatibility, like most scanners, the Brother DS-640 is Windows, Mac, and Linux compatible. 

If you want a fast compact scanner, the DS-640 is not for you. Scanning longer documents with the DS-640 takes a lot of time, especially the color ones. Its speed is one of this scanner’s downsides, but we didn’t expect blazing fast scanning speeds at all.

On the other hand, the scanning quality with the maximum resolution of 600 dpi is surprisingly great and can compete with much more expensive scanners. All of this makes the Brother DS-640 a great option for those who want precise scans, but are willing to sacrifice the speed.

Overall, the Brother DS-640 is a great value for the money for someone who is looking for a lightweight and portable scanner that doesn’t plan to scan a lot of documents. It’s economical and simple to use, but for a slightly higher price, the Epson WorkForce ES-50 is a better choice.

Overall, the NOUHAUS Palette is a great ergonomic office chair. While it isn’t the most affordable chair in the world, the price is great compared to the value it provides.

If you wish to save your documents in a cloud service like OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive, Canon imageFORMULA R40 has got you covered. This can save you memory on your device and safely store your documents.

Canon imageFORMULA R40 has a 60-sheet Automatic Document Feeder, Auto Page Size Detection, Auto Color Detection, and many other similar features that are expected to be found on a document scanner at this price point.

However, where imageFORMULA R40 excels is the ease of use, straight out of the box. The setup is simple; connect the scanner to your device via a USB cable (it’s included in the box) and you are good to go.

The major downside to the Canon imageFORMULA R40 is the lack of Wi-Fi, NFC, or Bluetooth connectivity. The only connectivity option is via USB 2.0, and if that doesn’t work for you, our recommendation is to check out other options, like the Brother ADS-1700W or the Canon imageFORMULA R50.

Now we’ve come to the part where the Canon imageFORMULA R40 excels as a compact document scanner, and that is the most important factor you think about before choosing a scanner. 

The overall OCR accuracy is pretty amazing, with the only issue being slightly poorer photo scanning. The scanned documents, however, look amazingly accurate. This document scanner has a maximum dpi resolution is 600, which is pretty good for a scanner that is this small. You can also change the dpi resolution in the settings, from 600 down to 100dpi if you prefer faster scanning. 

Speaking of fast scanning, Canon imageFORMULA R40 is one fast document scanner. It can scan up to 40 ppm, which makes this scanner one of the fastest in this price range. 

The Canon imageFORMULA R40 is a very capable document scanner that can handle many document types and will satisfy the needs of most users. However, if you need a Wi-Fi or NFC-enabled document scanner, then the Canon imageFORMULA R50 is probably the better option. 

Those who won’t see a problem with only the USB connectivity being available will be pleased to know that the Canon imageFORMULA R40 is a scanner that provides excellent performance, especially when it comes to scanning B&W documents.

As it’s an affordable option, you can’t expect to have some features that the slightly more expensive scanners have. But, most people will be fine with the lack of them.

The most obvious missing feature is the Color Panel in the front. On the iX1600, both the standard and deluxe models, we have the 4.3″ screen, which may be convenient, but it’s not a “must-have”.

With the iX1400 you also miss out on the scan to phone and the multi-user capability. While these features are nice to have, they are not mandatory, so to say.

It does have the 50-page Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), a feature that makes the scanning process much faster. In addition, the iX1400 has Automatic Size Detection, one of its most significant features. The Fujitsu iX1400 is PC and Mac eligible.

However, its ease of use is credited to one button that we can see on the front panel. Connecting the scanner to ScanSnap software and pushing that button starts the scanning process. Simple as that.

When you see a compact scanner you definitely think that it can’t possibly have incredibly accurate OCR, but with the iX1400, that is possible. For a scanner that is this compact, documents were scanned very well, as the maximum dpi for monochrome is 1200 dpi, and 600 dpi for colored scans.

In addition to pretty accurate OCR, the ScanSnap iX1400 has great scanning speeds. With an average of 40 ppm, it’s faster than most of its closest competitors, and just a tad bit slower than the iX1600. As for double-sided scanning, the story is the same.

Even though it’s affordable, the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1400 delivers in the performance department. Fast, accurate and reliable, we were very pleased with it.

We have praised this scanner a lot so far, and now is the time to talk about its flaws. That is the lack of connectivity options, as the ScanSnap iX1400 only supports USB.

There are no Wi-Fi and no Ethernet connectivity options, which lowers this scanner’s versatility. While the lack of those connectivity options is a downside for the iX1400, it’s not a huge deal-breaker.

With a compact size and great performance, the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1400 is one of the best compact scanners available on the market. However, its lack of connectivity options, and the lack of a color screen, are the two main downsides.

But, if you are looking for a simple, easy-to-use scanner, that is affordable and has great performance, the Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1400 is a great option.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is the ideal printer for small offices, homes, and educational institutions. Its compact footprint and high-quality printing make it an amazing addition to any office.

It’s equipped with a ton of features that will make your office work much easier. Those primarily include the Auto-Duplex, a timesaving feature that lets you print on both sides of the paper automatically.

Another important feature of this printer is the wide-format printing, which lets you print on paper sizes up to 11 x 17 inches. This can be especially important for small businesses which need to print larger documents and presentations.

Connection options include Wi-Fi, Ethernet, which we were quite pleased to see, and USB. The color touch screen on the front allows you to efficiently control the printer, but we wished it were a bit larger. Nevertheless, it’s great to have a touchscreen on your printer.

What strikes us the most about this printer is the great output quality. That is especially true for presentations and text, which look very sharp. Photo printing quality isn’t bad either, but it’s not as impressive as the text output quality.

OfficeJet Pro 7740 printing costs are average, and a couple of its closest competitors have slightly better numbers. However, that shouldn’t be a major issue if you are looking to get this printer because 7740’s strong points are countless.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is an all-in-one printer with a sleek design, easy setup, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet connectivity options but has higher running costs. That is this printer’s biggest flaw, but its strong points include the good output quality and fast printing speeds. It also has a couple of features that will make your office work easier.

Then, of course, there is the price. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is a reasonably priced printer considering its fair share of features, and that will be tolerable by most people who need an AiO printer.

The Auto-Duplex is always warmly welcomed, and it’s this printer’s most distinguishing feature. The output quality is good enough for people who will need it for presentations and documents but is nothing exceptional. Considering its age, we would give it a 4/5 rating.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is great for people who need a printer that has a good output and scanning quality and a Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB connection. It’s not the best AiO printer in its class, but it’s definitely one of the best printers that use 952 ink cartridges.

The OfficeJet Pro 8210 is a single-function affordable printer designed for home use. This is a very lightweight printer that has a sleek and compact design. What we especially liked about the design of the OfficeJet Pro 8210 is its glossy front which combines well with the matte finish of the rest of the printer.

The front panel features a small screen that lets you see the various printer settings. It’s not a touchscreen, yet you control the settings by buttons found on the sides of the screen.

Printing speeds are quite good for an average user; around 18 ppm for black and white prints and 23 ppm for colored ones. The same story goes for the output quality; nothing extraordinary, but good for an average user, especially with printing text, which looks pretty sharp.

If you are looking for a quality photo printer that uses 952 ink, you may want to look elsewhere. However, if you want a decent and easy-to-install printer for home use, you should seriously consider the HP OfficeJet Pro 8210.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 is a multi-functional printer that supports printing, scanning, copying, and faxing. Compared to the previously mentioned OfficeJet Pro 8720, this high-speed, high-yield printer is designed for small businesses.

Along with support for Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 supports Wi-Fi Direct, which allows you to connect wirelessly to printers and scanners without using a network of cables, making it easy to print and scan from virtually anywhere in your home or office.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 has a large print area and comes with several useful features such as an automatic document feeder, duplex printing, and a touchscreen, which will make it easier for you to play around and change the various settings of the printer.

Since this is intended for small businesses, the fast print speeds that this printer has are not unexpected. HP OfficeJet Pro 8740 beats most of its closest competitors regarding printing speeds, and that goes as well for its printing quality.

A wide-format printer is a printer that prints on paper wider than standard A4 size paper, which is the size that most home office printers print on. It also has a long vertical margin and can use more pages than regular printers, which is why it’s called wide-format.

The Epson WorkForce WF-7710 can print on A3-sized paper (11-3/4″ x 16-1/2″), up to 13″ x 19″ with a maximum resolution of 2400dpi. Someone who needs a large-scale print, like posters, will truly benefit from this.

WorkForce WF-7710 Wide-Format All-in-One printer has an exceptional list of features. One of its most remarkable features is undoubtedly the auto-duplex for printing, scanning, and copying. Another prominent feature is single-pass auto-duplexing ADF, which supports 35 sheets.

This All-in-One printer from Epson has a 250-sheet tray, which is quite a low number compared to its closest competitors. In the middle of the printer, you can find a 4.3″ touch-screen that has large icons and is pretty easy to use. On the right side of the touchscreen is a control panel, neatly organized, good-looking and modern.

Epson WorkForce WF-7710 has a TON of connectivity options, including the NFC, which you don’t see as often. There are the usual Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, and USB connectivity options, and you can also use Google Cloud Print and Apple AirPrint.

If that is not enough for you, you can also print from Epson’s apps for smartphones, like the Epson iPrint.

None of these touchscreen displays and connectivity options matter if the printer performs poorly. Luckily, that is not the case with the WF-7710. The printed text looked exceptional, with deep blacks. If you are looking for a printer to print out great-looking documents, this one should certainly be on your list.

Photo quality, on the other hand, is a bit different. Not that it’s bad, it’s quite average to put it that way. The colors could’ve been more vibrant, so photographers will need to find better options than this one.

The scanner is outstanding. Replications are great, made possible by the maximum resolution that this printer has, 4800 DPI, and it works up to 13″ x 19″ sized papers.

If you have dye-sublimation ink for this printer and sublimation paper, you will print out some nice-looking sublimation prints with this Epson printer. It’s actually one of the most popular dye-sublimation printers around, mainly because of its price, because dye-sublimation printers usually cost a lot more.

Sure, with this printer you won’t get the perfect dye-sublimation printing experience, but it’s more than good enough to get you started.

While the WorkForce WF-7710 has a lot of upsides to it, it surely also has a couple of downsides. First off, we have the high running costs, which are much larger than those of its closest competitors. So, knowing that, we can’t recommend the WF-7710 to those who plan to use it often.

It’s definitely aimed at home office use since its printing speed is not acceptable for businesses, but it is for a home office. The printing quality for photos truly surprised us, just like its ease of use.

The Envy 5530 e-All-in-One printer has a pretty good-looking design with a stylish two-color combination. Just imagine this printer on a dark wooden desk, it will be a perfect combination.

With a great output quality and a good price, this printer is recommended for those who need a new printer for light usage and don’t care too much for printing speeds.

The best HP printer that uses 61 ink for small businesses is the Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One. Like the previous printer on this list, this one also uses thermal inkjet technology to print great-looking graphics and good-quality photos and documents. Compared to the Envy 5530, this one has a faxing option, and besides that, it can also copy, scan, and obviously, print.

The 35-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) that the Officejet 4630 has is perfect for smaller offices and it also has the Auto-Duplex feature that enables you to print automatically on both sides of the paper.

However, there are also some downsides to this one. For starters, this one, like the Envy 5530, lacks the Ethernet port. Secondly, the printing speeds are quite sluggish, and there are several printers in this category that are much faster than the Officejet 4630.

However, its good price and output quality will be great for most people. If its printing costs are reasonable for you then the HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One is a printer that you should consider.

While the Deskjet 1000 misses out on a lot of features, it surprised us in the photo printing department and it’s super easy to get it set up. It’s a compact printer, designed for home office use.

While the Deskjet 1000 is a pretty old printer, it still has a good design that will make it match nicely in many home office spaces. This single-function printer, because of its age, lacks the now standard Wi-Fi connectivity. You only have the USB connectivity option with this one.

It makes up for it with a good output quality for documents and photos and the 60 sheet tray is more than good for a printer that is this compact. A very useful printer, with good print speeds, is a good budget option if you want an HP printer that uses 61 ink.

For those who are looking for an inexpensive and compact printer, the Envy 4500 e-All-in-One should be at the top of the wish list. It’s a printer that can do it all; print, scan, and copy and has an extremely easy setup, either by Wi-Fi or by USB.

Affordable as it is, the print quality is quite good. Of course, the print quality isn’t razor-sharp, but for an affordable printer, it’s rather good.

There are two things that we didn’t like about this printer and those are the high ink running costs and the noise it makes while it prints. The second issue isn’t that big, but the running costs surely are.

So, knowing that, we definitely wouldn’t recommend this all-in-one printer to those who need to use it quite often, as that could be very costly.

Please welcome the HP Deskjet 3000, an inkjet printer with great output quality and fast printing speeds. Designed with sleek lines and to be user-friendly, this printer should be on your radar if you are looking for a fast HP printer that uses 61 ink cartridges.

It features a small LCD screen that lets you change various printing settings if you don’t wish to print from your phone or laptop. Lightweight and quite compact, it’s a great printer for those who need it for light usage.

Its overall printing quality is as expected from an affordable printer, but the printing speeds are what surprised us. So, knowing all that, this printer is recommended for those who need a printer for light usage, because the ink runs out fairly quickly, and those who want a printer for heavy-duty usage should look elsewhere.

This All-in-One printer is a pretty versatile one considering its features. It has printing, scanning, and copying features, and the one feature that we were excited to see, the auto duplex feature.

The 2.2″ mono touchscreen is a nice feature, but we would like to see it in color. However, it lets you adjust the printing, scanning, and copying settings without using your phone. Easy to use and with a fairly quick response time, the screen also lets you see some instructional videos to assist you if you get stuck in changing the ink for example.

It’s also cloud printing ready, and you will be able to set that up in just a couple of minutes. It also has a scan to email feature which lets you scan a document and send it to an e-mail address instantly. For people who scan documents a lot, this feature can be a big time-saver.

Moving on to connectivity; the HP Envy 6255 has a Wi-Fi connectivity option, and it works seamlessly. The set-up is painless, and when you connect it to your iPhone or other devices you want to print from, you will be good to go.

The support for Mopria and AirPrint is also there, and, while all of that is great, the Bluetooth and Ethernet connectivity are missing, which may present an issue for some people. But, the option to connect it to Alexa is there, and you will be able to control the printer by voice.

The scanning feature is not the best, it’s rather modest because it lacks the Automatic Document Feeder and the Duplex Scanning feature is also missing. So, if you are looking for an all-in-one printer with a fantastic scanner, you may want to look somewhere else, but on the flip-side, the scanning process on the Envy photo 6255 is very easy, and you will be able to do it without issues.

The HP Envy Photo 6255 build quality is just what you would expect from an affordable printer. Made from plastic, some parts give off a sturdy impression, but the printer as a whole definitely could’ve been better.

This is a rather compact printer that can easily fit in your home office, and with its weight of around 14 lbs, it won’t be hard to move it around until you find the ideal spot for it.

While it only comes in one colorway, it suits the design of the Envy Photo 6255 very well. The design of this printer is very sleek, with rounded edges and a combination of matte and glossy finishes.

The power button is found on the left side of the screen (which is directly in the middle) and it glows when the printer is turned on. This printer will fit well in any small or home office, especially if you put it on a dark wood desk.

HP Envy Photos 6255’s print quality has a mixture of both great and bad things. The color accuracy is surprisingly good, and that will suit many people. In this category, very few printers have a better color accuracy than the 6255. The documents came out pretty well, with crisp text.

However, on the downside, you can notice some banding in the photo’s darker areas. But, for most people who are not photographers for example, and need an affordable AIO printer with decent print quality, the HP Envy Photo 6255 is a great option.

Since this is a photo printer, you would expect that the Envy 6255 just rolls out photos with blazing speed. But, that is not exactly the case.

There are several printers that can print faster, and if that is an issue for you then the Envy 6255 is not recommended. With its document printing averaging around 8-9 ppm and photo printing taking slightly over a minute, this printer can fall into the group of printers with average to below-average printing speeds.

This is a tricky one. If you choose to subscribe to HP’s Instant Ink program, the cost per print of this printer will be quite low. If you plan to use this printer occasionally then the subscription might not be a bad idea.

There is also one more catch. If you plan to only print documents in black and white, that doesn’t mean that the printer won’t use color ink cartridges for other tasks, so when it’s time to replace the cartridges, very likely you will need to replace them all.

With its sleek design, a couple of awesome features, and great color accuracy, HP Envy Photo 6255 will be a great option for many people who are looking for an affordable printer for occasional printing.

While it’s not the best option for professionals, and while it does have its downsides, HP Envy Photo 6255 will be a great printer for most people.
